BY DENNY SCOTT
Teeswater’s Studio 410 is in the middle of a two-weekend run of Shrek the Musical Jr. at Blyth Memorial Community Hall with three days of performances left.
The studio, owned by Devan and Paige Ballagh, welcomed 2,300 students to school performances, and opened the play to the public on Sat. Feb. 23.
Further performances are scheduled for March 1 at 7 p.m., March 2 at 2 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m.
Paige explained that this is the fourth show for the studio at Memorial Hall, and it’s second musical, after performing Legally Blonde: The Musical last year.
She explained that Shrek was chosen because it’s a known quantity for families and schools, and that it’s already proven to be an enjoyable story.
“Kids love big, bright colourful shows like this,” she said. “Shrek is already a favourite character and show, and it’s a musical comedy that people will enjoy.”
Devan agreed, saying that the show really appeals to everyone.
The show is a not-for-profit venture, and includes a cast of 23 local actors of all ages.
