Stone House Brewing adds to Bayfield area’s taste menu

It seems like only yesterday when Stone House Brewing in nearby Varna was breaking ground by becoming Huron County’s first full-time craft brewery Now it has plenty of company and a devoted clientele.

Stone House Brewing is the culmination of a dream by Mike Corrie, a Clinton native who brought 15 years of experience in the brewing industry home to Huron County. Corrie gained his first experience in brewing in London, then spent eight years in sales and distribution of beer before he decided to set up his own brewery on Parr Line. Besides being home, the location is also a busy route for tourists heading to Lake Huron, he explains and handy for beer lovers visiting such lakeside communities as Grand Bend, Bayfield and Goderich.

Corrie teamed with a German-trained brewmaster with over 20 years experience in Munich, to create German-style beers using two-row Canadian malting barley and specialty hops. Their flag-ship beer is Stone House Pilsner, a true Czech Pilsner beer, crystal clear and deep golden in colour. They plan to introduce one or two more beers, including a seasonal variety, once they’re established.

The brewery offers tours, beer tasting and beer and food pairing events. To book a tour and tasting event, call 519-281-1167 or email stonehousebc@tcc.on.ca

Stone House Brewing is located at 76050 Parr Line just north of Varna.       http://www.stonehousebrewing.ca/
